Futsal (also known as fútsal or footsal) is a variant of football. Futsal is played between two teams of five players each, unlike some other forms of indoor football, the game is played indoors on a hard court surface, with a a smaller, harder, low-bounce ball.

Yeah u Futsal comes from Spanish fútbol sala or fútbol de salón and from Portuguese futebol de salão. The term is commonly translated as "indoor football", but a more literal translation is "hall/lounge football". During the sport's second world championships held in Madrid in 1985, the Spanish name fútbol sala was used. Since then, all other names have been officially and internationally changed to futsal.

Mr. Darshan K.

Mr. Darshan is a National Level Player (Under 16, 18, and 21) and has represented Karnataka State multiple times. Under his captaincy, his team went on to become the runners-up at the 2013-14 Under-18 State Level Football Tournament held in Bellari, which led to his team advancing to the Nationals.

He has previously worked as a coach at many summer camps conducted by Saint Joseph’s, and was a fulltime coach at Saint Arnold’s as well. This has led to him becoming a talented player and an experienced coach.


Futsal started in 1930 when Juan Carlos Ceriani, a teacher in Montevideo, Uruguay, created a version of indoor football for recreation in YMCAs. This new sport was originally developed for playing on basketball courts and a rule book was published in September 1933. The rules of Futsal were written be Ceriani, who used the principles of football, basketball, and hand ball for the type of game, number of players as well as game duration, goalkeeper rules and goal size and field sizes respectively to do the same.

The sport has an annual World Cup and The World Intercontinental Futsal Cup took place at the Bangkok Futsal Arena, Thailand from 26th August - 1st September 2019. The renowned Indian Football players are Sunil chhetri and Bhaichung Bhutia.
